Dear Skålleagues

One year has elapsed already since we have been in function.  Our AGM was held on the 29th February 08 at the Hotel School Sir Gaetan Duval whereas you have renewed your confidence in your Executive Committee.  Our Activities during 2007 have been reviewed and those planned for 2008 have been ratified as the Way Forward.

Our motto at Skål Asia is “Make things happen!” and Skål Mauritius further adds
“What we promise, we deliver!”  Of course, we could not make “things happen” without your continuous participation and your unflinching support

The Executive Committee had empowered the Skålleagues for Membership Development and your support has helped us achieve an international recognition in this respect at our Skål International Congress in Turkey, for 2007.  This process has been very fruitful and we expect to maintain this Membership Development trend in 2008!  We welcome our new Skålleagues in the Skål International Tourism Family, and we are looking forward to meet you at our next Functions.

We shall celebrate the World Skål Day on Saturday 26th April, at the same time as the 500 Clubs, in 90 countries, in all the Continents, around the World!  On this occasion we are organizing a “Rallye Bigorno”, followed by a Lunch Function, which will be held at “Campement Yemen.”  We will meet you there, as well as the friends of Skål, in the true Skål Friendship Spirit.

We have solicited the Consultant from the Winning Edge, Mr. Bert Van Walbeek, to conduct 2 seminars in Mauritius on the 5th & 6th May, on the subject of “Risk Prevention & Crisis Management in Tourism & Related Activities.”  Some 200 Skålleagues had the chance to see the man in action at the Asian Area Assembly in Macau last year, where he was acclaimed with a standing ovation by the 200 delegates present.

The Skål Club of Mauritius wishes to contribute to the good governance and overall success of the Tourism Industry in Mauritius.  Our objective is to achieve greater awareness in the Industry about the potential risks, and how to manage them.  The aim of the Seminar is to sharpen your skills at predicting and preventing a crisis, and how to prepare, respond, and recover from disasters.

We encourage you to participate in these Seminars and to market same with all the Friends of Skål.

We shall come back to you with more news after the Seminars.  Looking much forward to welcome you, in conjunction with Bert, on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th May at Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel.

Our Team remains at your entire disposal for any information you may wish to share, any proposal you would wish to discuss, and accompany us towards our common goals!

We wish you all the very best in your endeavours. With our kind regards.

Skål!
