The magazine « Visit Mauritius and Visit Rodrigues » has triggered the initiative towards the creation of a SKAL Rodrgues.

At the end of April 2009, Skål Mauritius conducted a membership development campaign in Rodrigues and the delegation consisted of the President, Director Membership Development and Director Website, who met the Local Authorities, the Presidents of the Tourism Associations, and contacted potential members to join in.

On Saturday 2^nd of May 2009 a cocktail was organised at Mourouk Ebony Hotel where the objectives of Skål International, the activities of Skål Mauritius, and our affiliation with Skål Asia were explained.

20 Tourism Professionals accepted to join in as new members.

The 20 new members have had few meetings and a Shadow Executive Committee has now been nominated as follows :

Maxy Andre – Director La Residence Esplanade

Skål Mauritius will accompany our Skålleagues from Rodrigues towards the creation of an autonomous and independent Skål Club, hence reinforcing our presence in the Skål Asia Region.

This achievement was acclaimed by our previous World President, Mrs. Hulya Aslantas, at the Skål Asian Area Congress in Incheon Korea in May 2009.
